Zoe Cassidy is a recurring character in Season 1 of Only Murders in the Building. She was a member of The Hardy Boys and was killed by Theo Dimas at a New Year's Eve party in 2010.
She is portrayed by Olivia Reis.
History[]
Early life[]
Zoe Cassidy lived in the Arconia with her family. She was a junior at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in the Manhattan borough of New York City.[1]
Joining the Hardy Boys[]
At some point, Cassidy met and befriended Mabel Mora, Tim Kono and Oscar Torres, and joined The Hardy Boys—a group of friends founded by Mabel and Tim to solve mysteries throughout the Arconia. When the Hardy Boys would break into apartments to "solve mysteries," Zoe would occasionally steal things from the apartments. She also started dating Oscar Torres.[2]
2011 New Year's Day and Death[]
At some point in late 2010, the Hardy Boys broke into Teddy Dimas's apartment where his son Theo Dimas was present but hiding in a secret lair behind the bookshelf. Zoe exclaimed, in front of Oscar, that she thought Theo was "hot" and that "Greek boys have the best eyes," to which Oscar replied, "I'm literally right here in front of you." Then Zoe was struck by an emerald ring, and Oscar told her she couldn't keep it. Zoe noticed Theo behind the bookshelf, and told him in ASL that, "I meant it when I said you're hot." She took the emerald ring and left.
During New Year's Eve, Zoe and Oscar got onto the elevator with Theo and Teddy Dimas. Zoe flirted with Theo before getting off the elevator and saying "Happy New Year" in ASL. Seeing her hands, Teddy noticed the stolen emerald ring, and quickly asked if she knew ASL to which Zoe replied that she had a deaf cousin. After she left, Teddy confronted Theo about the emerald ring, and told him to get it back.
On the roof, Zoe and Oscar got into a fight. Theo asked for the ring back, she gave it back, but got angry with him. She started pushing him and she pushed off of him/jerked away from him, accidentally causing her to fall to her death.[3]
Personality[]
Zoe is entitled and spoiled, and bored with her life, which is affluent but she finds it empty. She stole jewelry and drugs from people's apartments when they were "Hardy Boy-ing" there. She is also snobby, comparing dating Oscar to dating "the help" in a fit of anger. She was cruel to Theo when he tried to help her, and clearly saw him as inferior to herself. She did not consider him a serious romantic possibility, but enjoyed toying with him. Despite this, she could be sweet at times; and seemed to have a soft, sort-of sisterly, spot for Mabel.
Relationships[]
Oscar Torres[]
Zoe and Oscar dated when they were teenagers. Zoe accused Oscar of cheated on her on New Year's Eve (she is heard screaming at him "that is textbook cheating" in a flashback).
Theo Dimas[]
TBA
Notes and Trivia[]
- Zoe has a deaf cousin, and has learned ASL to communicate with them.[4]
