Tina Fey plays Cinda Canning in Only Murders in the Building.
Biography[]
Tina Fey is an American actress, writer, producer and improviser. She was a writer on Saturday Night Live from 1997 to 2005, becoming the show's first female head writer in 1999, a position she retained until she left the show in 2006. During her time at SNL Fey also appeared on the show as the host of the Weekend Update segment, alongside Jimmy Fallon and later Amy Poehler. One of her most famous roles on the show is her portrayal of Republican politician Sarah Palin. While at SNL, Fey landed a development deal with NBC for a sitcom about a cable news channel. The premise was later reworked to revolve around a fictional live sketch show much like SNL. It starred Fey as the main character Liz Lemon, alongside Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin. The show was a critical success and ran for seven seasons. She later co-created the television series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt with Robert Carlock, who she previously worked with on 30 Rock.
Fey is also known for writing and co-starring in the 2004 film Mean Girls, which deals with teenage cliques and bullying. She later adapted the film into the Broadway musical of the same name, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award.

Notes and Trivia[]
- Fey has previously worked with several cast members of Only Murders in the Building when they appeared on her show 30 Rock. They include Maulik Pancholy (Arnav Kapoor), Teddy Coluca (Lester) and Nathan Lane (Teddy Dimas).
- The role of Cinda Canning was written for Tina Fey; in fact, in the pilot script, she is jokingly called "Tina Fey-ning". At one point, it looked like she was going to be unavailable for the role, so the producers began auditioning actors for Cinda Canning. One actor who auditioned was Adina Verson, who went on to play Poppy White. Poppy was a role specially created for Adina when it turned out that Tina Fey was available, because the casting directors were so impressed with her audition.
