Theo Dimas is a recurring character in Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. He is Teddy Dimas' son and lived in the Arconia.
He is portrayed by James Caverly.
History
Childhood
It is implied by Teddy that Theo's mother abandoned him and having a deaf child 'ended his marriage'.[1] 10-year-old Theo Dimas played under a coffee table, watching his father Teddy Dimas who was listening to "Soliloquy" from the classic musical Carousel. Teddy put the headphones on Theo, hoping that he would hear at least some of the song, and sang along with what appears to be growing anger at his son's disability, and any kids that bully him, before realizing he was being too rough with him and apologizes.[2]
Zoe's Death
Theo was in his father's apartment one day when The Hardy Boys came in. He hid in a secret room and spied on them as they looked around. He watched as Zoe said that he was hot and that Greek guys have the best eyes. Zoe then found a green ring and put it on her finger. When Theo accidentally made a noise, Zoe saw him watching before he could hide. She signed to him that she'd meant what she said about him being hot. She then took the ring and left.
When Teddy and Theo saw Zoe in the elevator and she signed Happy New Year to them, Teddy spotted the ring on her finger and told Theo to get it back. Theo went up to the roof party to do so, but they got into an argument when he made a comment about why she was the way she was. She started pushing him. When he pushed her back, he accidentally pushed her off the roof to her death. As he left, he passed Tim Kono, who had watched their whole interaction.
Theo went back to his dad's place, where he vomited and gave his dad the ring. Then he told his father what happened and his dad promised to fix it. They went to Tim and Teddy threatened both him and Mabel if he told the police what he'd seen.[3]
Tim's Memorial Service
When Tim Kono was found dead in his apartment from an apparent suicide, Theo brought food from his father's deli and set it up for people to eat.[4]
Interrupting Oliver and Teddy
Theo came to his father's place because they had plans, but found Oliver there. Teddy had Theo wait for a minute while he finished up with Oliver.[5]
Suspecting the Trio and Arrest
Theo looked and lip-read through binoculars at Charles, Mabel and Oliver. Theo distracted Lester and took a key from the desk, which he used to break into Charles's place, where he found the evidence board. He took pictures and went to his father's apartment, where he showed his father the pictures and said Charles, Mabel, and Oliver were onto them. Teddy assured Theo that he would handle it and sent Theo to retrieve a shipment.
Theo was retrieving the jewelry from a corpse when he spotted Oliver and Mabel in the room. They tried to run away, but found the exit wouldn't open. Theo bound and gagged them and put them in the back of a van, then he texted his father to tell them they knew everything.[6]
Teddy met up with them and had Theo drive them home while he threatened Mabel and Oliver in the back. The next morning, instead of releasing an episode declaring that they were wrong and Tim's death was a suicide after all, they released one implicating Theo and Teddy for the murder. Theo and Teddy were then arrested.[7]
Temporary Release
Theo and his father were both released while awaiting trial. Teddy told Theo that he would fix everything, but Theo said he had gotten his own lawyer and didn't want his father's help anymore. He told his father to stay away from him and left.[1]
Visit to Coney Island
Theo was riding the subway when he saw Mabel in the next car being attacked by a man. He stepped off the train and saw the man run past him, carrying Mabel's bag. The man dropped a Coney Island security badge, which Theo picked up. Theo then saw Mabel walk off the train in a daze, dissociating. To keep her from wandering into danger. He brought her home and put her to bed at his place.
The next morning, when she woke up, she hid and hit him with a lamp when he returned. He signed that he was trying to help her and then showed her a video of her stabbing someone on the train. They sat down and Theo asked if Mabel remembered anything. She said she didn't. She tried to leave, but realized her bag was missing. He told her the man she stabbed had taken it. He remembered the security badge, which prompted her to say she needed to get to Coney Island. He persuaded her to let him drive her there.
At Coney Island, Theo broke them into the security office, where Mabel started going through employee files. Mabel started to panic that maybe she was the kind of person who went into fugue states and stabbed people. When Mabel walked out, Theo bagged up the files and brought them with him. His ankle bracelet beeped, informing him that it needed to be charged, so Mabel helped him find a plug, then also plugged in an arcade game for him to play.
Next, he tried a claw game, but when he failed multiple times, he decided to open the front of the machine and grab a prize. Inside was a ring similar to the one Zoe had. Theo signed that every night before he went to sleep, he replayed that moment in his head, wondering if she slipped or if he pushed her. Mabel said she couldn't walk past the front gate or Tim's door without seeing their bodies. It disturbed her that she was the kind of person who could stab someone and not remember it, a thought that scared her. Theo indicated that he didn't understand what she said, but she thought that might be better.
Theo's bracelet was finished charging, so Mabel said she needed to use the bathroom before they headed back to the city. Theo waited, but when Mabel emerged, she was running and pulled him to hide with her. After the man, whom Mabel dubbed Glitter Guy, passed them, they went back to the car. Mabel checked the bag and found the matchbook was missing.
As they sat there, Theo ignored a FaceTime call from his dad, one of many. As they arrived back home, Mabel told Theo not to push things away, as that hadn't worked for her. Theo called his father back.[8]
Helping Mabel
When Mabel was forced to move out of her apartment, Theo helped her move all of her stuff out and theorized that Dickie knows something about Ben Glenroy's murder.
He and Mabel went upstairs to a silent auction run by Dickie, where Theo bought the original sketch Ben drew of CoBro as a child, but he realized the signature was actually Dickie's, giving him motive, as Ben claimed it as his own and used it to make millions. He told Mabel and Tobert and Mabel recorded the trailer for season three of Only Murders in the Building.[9]
When Mabel was unable to find a new apartment, she moved in with Theo.[10]

Relationships
Zoe Cassidy
When Zoe, Mabel, Oscar, and Tim would "Hardy Boy" into others' apartments while they were younger, they broke into Teddy's apartment. Theo was there, and he hid but spied on the four as they lurked around the house. Theo could tell that Zoe said he was hot, eventually finding him and signing that she meant it. The two became in some sort of a relationship, occasionally running into each other. One night, when Zoe and Theo were on the roof of the Arconia, they got into a fight, causing Theo to accidentally push Zoe, who fell off of the roof to her death.
Mabel Mora
Despite being the same age and living in the Arconia at the same time, Theo and Mabel had very little, if any, interaction. Mabel broke into Teddy's apartment, along with her friends, but Theo purely paid attention to Zoe. After Zoe's death, Theo told Teddy Mabel's name in order to blackmail Tim. Ten years later, Theo took interest in Mabel, Oliver, and Charles, discovering they knew about Teddy's illegal jewellery ring. He discovers Mabel, along with Oliver, spying on him and takes them hostage. Teddy frees them both so they'll prove the two's innocence, however they just release proof of their guilt.
Later on, when out on parole, Theo sees Mabel being attacked on the train and helps her home, where she passes out. Upon waking, she tries to attack him, but he calms her down and agrees to help. They end up going to Coney Island and breaking into a security office together, where Theo's ankle bracelet needs charging. They bond and play games together, eventually discussing Zoe's death. They are attacked by Zoe's assailant again, but manage to hide. Mabel convinces Theo to call his father and reconcile.
Now close friends, Theo helps Mabel move her things out of her apartment. Mabel has started learning ASL in order to communicate with him, and she playfully teases him over his love for the CoBro movies. They go to a Silent Auction together, where Theo attempts to help Mabel convince Dickie she is a fan of CoBro. He later meets Tobert, her boyfriend, and teases the both of them.
When Mabel was unable to find a new apartment, she moves in with him.
