The Trio in Only Murders in the Building consists of Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam, and Mabel Mora. They first met on January 16th, 2021, in a restaurant after a fire alarm at the Arconia forced them out of their apartments. They subsequently started an investigation into the murder of Tim Kono, along with a podcast documenting their investigation.

The trio first met on the evening of January 16, 2021, after the fire alarm at the Arconia. Charles was sitting at a table at Librizzi's when Oliver joined him. After realizing they both listened to "All Is Not Ok in Oklahoma", they started listening to the new episode. When Oliver spotted Mabel entering the restaurant, he invited her to join them, which she did. The trio then bonded over a discussion of the case of "All Is Not Ok in Oklahoma". They returned to the Arconia together, and were told by Lester that someone was found dead on floor 9. Mabel suggested that they went to investigate, so they did, meeting an annoyed Donna Williams in the process.
They have also investigated the murder of Bunny Folger in Season 2, the murder of Ben Glenroy in Season 3, the murder of Sazz Pataki in Season 4 and the murder of Lester Coluca in Season 5. They will investigate the murder of Cinda Canning in Season 6.
