Short Summary[]
With the investigation scratching at a web of old crimes originating inside the building, a mysterious young man turns the tables to spy on Charles, Oliver and Mabel.
Full Summary[]
10-year-old Theo Dimas watches his father listening to music on headphones. Teddy laments that his son can't hear the beautiful music and puts the headphones on him, turning the music louder and louder in an aggressive attempt to get Teddy to hear it until he realizes what he's doing, pulls back, and apologizes to Theo.
Adult Theo uses binoculars to spy on Charles, Oliver, and Mabel as they plan their next move. He also sees the evidence board, including a paper that says, "Jewels."
Theo watches Teddy and Oliver walk in the hallway. They leave to get coffee together. Once they're gone, Theo comes out.
Theo enters the Arconia, where he sees Grover complaining to Lester about the noise from his upstairs neighbor. Lester promises to see what he can do. Once Grover's gone, Lester vents to Theo, learning to sign that he hates those people. Theo calls the desk to distract Lester so he can take a key from behind the desk.
Theo knocks on Charles's door. When there's no answer, he breaks in. He looks over the evidence board and sees his father's picture, along with a check and a card that says, "Angel, Inc." There's also a news article about Zoe's death. Theo takes a picture.
Meanwhile, Mabel and Charles break into Teddy's place. Charles stands watch while Mabel goes inside alone. Mabel finds a trap door and opens it.
Charles gets a text from Oliver, warning him that they're on their way back. He tries to be casual when Uma peeks out of her apartment, pretending to take out the trash.
While he and Teddy wait for the elevator, Oliver frantically texts Charles again.
Mabel pulls Charles inside and shows him the room she found, which is lined with urns. Charles pulls one down and Mabel silently chastises him for touching it without gloves. The name on the bottom says Shine On Funeral Home. He gets another text and nearly drops the urn. He shows the text to Mabel, and they rush to get out. When they hear someone coming in, they hide behind the door. Theo comes in and puts his keys and coat down before leaving again. Mabel and Charles sneak out and get onto the elevator just as Teddy gets off the other one.
Teddy comes home and is surprised to see Theo there waiting for him. Theo tells him that Charles, Mabel, and Oliver are onto them. He shows Teddy the pictures he took. Teddy is upset with him for breaking into Charles's place. Theo thinks they're in danger, but Teddy assures him he'll handle it. Theo follows Teddy into the hidden room, where Teddy dumps out an envelope full of jewelry and puts it in an urn. Then he tells Theo that he looks after Theo, not the other way around. He says there's a shipment out tonight Theo needs to work on.
Theo comes out of the hidden room to see The Hardy Boys entering his dad's apartment. He rushes back into the room to hide and watches them through a porthole. They talk about the apartment they're in being Teddy's and Zoe says that Theo's hot. Zoe finds a ring and takes it despite Oscar saying she shouldn't. They want to leave before they get caught. As they walk out, Theo makes a noise and Zoe sees him before he can hide. When he peeks again, she's watching him. She signs that she meant it when she said he was hot. Then she leaves with the ring.
Theo spots a glove behind the door where Mabel and Charles were hiding.
Mabel and Oliver leave on the elevator.
Charles lets Jan into his place for their date.
Theo leaves.
Oscar and Zoe get on the elevator with Theo and Teddy. Zoe quietly grabs Theo's butt then moves her hand up to his neck. As she and Oscar go to get off, she signs Happy New Year to Theo. Teddy's stop the doors from closing, surprised that Zoe knows ASL. She tells them she has a deaf cousin. Once they're gone, Teddy tells Theo to get the ring back.
Mabel and Oliver enter a funeral and sit down. Someone wheels in a cart of urns. When Mabel and Oliver lean to get a better look, Oliver falls out of his chair. Mabel helps him up and they leave.
Mabel and Oliver follow the man down some stairs. Mabel finds a door leading to a secret room and they enter.
Charles puts on an Ella Fitzgerald record. He and Jan dance together.
Mabel finds a jar of what Oliver informs her are fillings. They hear a noise and freeze.
Charles and Jan play Scrabble.
Mabel and Oliver peek out and find a body has been placed on a slab.
Charles and Jan continue to play. While Charles is cautious, Jan's words are increasingly flirtatious. Finally, he starts to flirt back and then dumps the rest of his tiles.
Mabel and Oliver hide when they hear someone coming down the stairs. They watch as Theo takes the jewelry off the body on the slab. Mabel texts Oliver that Theo is a grave robber. As Theo works on the computer, he sees Oliver's shadow and turns around. Oliver pushes the gurney into Theo, then he and Mabel run away. They go for the exit, but the door won't open.
Mabel drinks at the rooftop NYE party. Nearby, Theo wanders around. Theo sees Oscar and Zoe fighting. As Oscar walks away, Theo approaches Zoe. Zoe tells him to go away, that she's bad company. He asks if she and Oscar broke up, but she says she never knows until the next day. Theo tells her he needs the ring back because his father is upset. Theo says he'll get her a real one someday if she wants. Zoe starts laughing, but then apologizes. Theo tries to tell her why she might be unhappy, but she tells him not to do that. She pulls off the ring and shoves it into his chest. Then she starts shoving him backward. When he pushes back, he accidentally pushes her off the roof. He turns around and sees Tim equally horrified, watching him.
Theo goes to his dad's place and vomits on the floor. Then he gives Teddy the ring. Teddy promises to fix it, whatever it is. He just needs to know how bad it is and if anyone saw him. Theo cries.
Theo watches as Teddy talks to Tim about Zoe's death, saying his son is innocent and pinning the blame on Oscar. All he has to do is stay silent. If he doesn't, Teddy can't promise he won't end up like Zoe. Him or Mabel.
Theo drives a van.
Charles wakes up next to Jan. He checks his phone to find 11 missed calls and 78 texts from Mabel and Oliver. He scrolls through them to the bottom, which tells him to try THEO as the password on Tim's phone.
Teddy gets a text from Theo saying they know everything.
Charles gets Tim's phone.
Mabel and Oliver get tossed around in the back of the van as Theo drives them somewhere.
Charles puts in THEO and the phone unlocks. He says, "We did it!" and starts laughing.
