Rose Cooper, alias Leonora Folger, is a recurring character in Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building. She claimed to be the mother of Bunny Folger, which was later proven to be untrue.
She is portrayed by Shirley MacLaine.
History[]
Rose was in an abusive marriage. During this time, Charles's father stepped in to protect her. In 1956, Rose painted two paintings, one for Charles's father and one for herself. The former was of Charles and his father, looking up at the Arconia. The later was Rose with Charles's father. At some point after the paintings were finished, Rose had to disappear, which she did to protect both of them. They never saw each other again after that.[1]
Years later, Rose re-appeared, pretending to be Leonora Folger, in order to find the paintings. She attended the memorial for Bunny. She was upset that it had disappeared, because she said it was still her painting. She went to Charles's apartment after he expressed curiosity about the painting. She told him how she'd acquired the painting, then overheard Oliver telling Charles and Mabel that Amy Schumer had it. She went with the trio to Amy's apartment, where she discovered that it wasn't her painting, but a forgery. She went to leave, but Charles stopped her and asked her about his father, knowing the subject of the painting was his father. Rose said that she'd had an affair with his father. She was upset to learn that he'd died young.[2]
When Charles found the real painting, he tried to call Leonora only to find that Leonora was in assisted living and hadn't left for years. He tracked down Rose and called her over. He showed her the painting and she had him take the nails out to confirm it was the real one and show him the painting underneath. She told him the man in the second painting was the man his father wanted to be, a dad to his son. She told Charles he should have the painting. Better him than the brunette who'd come around. Rose didn't know who the woman was, but her description made Charles believe it was Cinda.[1]
