The content in Season 1, is centred around solving the murder of Tim Kono, a former resident of the Arconia. Each podcast episode has the same names as the episode of the TV series that it appears in.

The show was previously sponsored by Teddy Dimas to promote his chicken wraps, with the official title being Dimas Chicken Wraps Presents: Only Murders in the Building. This was before the arrest of Teddy and his son Theo for the murder and cover-up of Zoe Cassidy at a New Year's Day party in 2011.

History

After the murder of Tim Kono, Charles, Mabel and Oliver decide to investigate the death. Mabel and Charles have the idea of going through Tim's garbage, but Oliver has a different idea: that they should start a podcast about the murder. They start making the podcast, and publish the first two episodes to a total of 17 listeners. Oliver then approaches his old friend Teddy Dimas for money to invest in the podcast, which Teddy reluctantly gives him, in exchange for sponsorship by Dimas Delis. The podcast's listenership is further boosted when Cinda Canning mentions on The Tonight Show that "even the actor who played Brazzos has his own podcast now".

Trivia

• Charles unintentionally was the person who came up with the title of the podcast. In True Crime, after Tim Kono's death, Oliver mentioned another death that had happened nearby and suggested multi-tasking, but Charles said they needed to focus on only murders in the building. Oliver liked the way that sounded and said it would be the title of the podcast.
