Bunny was killed on March 12th, 2021. The same night, Charles, Oliver and Mabel were arrested by the NYPD. They were later questioned by Donna Williams and Daniel Kreps.
Suspects[]
Major Suspects[]
Mabel Mora[]
Mabel, Charles and Oliver were all arrested in the finale of Season 1, Open and Shut.
However, since Bunny was found dead in Mabel’s apartment, alongside the fact that Bunny had been stabbed with one of Mabel’s knitting needles, it was only Mabel who was suspected of murder.
At the police station in Persons of Interest, Williams and Kreps interview the trio separately, with Kreps playing a part of the first episode of Only Murders in the Building, where Mabel mentioned having a recurring dream of being in bed and a man is standing over her, so she stabs him hard as an attack, much like what had appeared with Bunny.
The three of them were eventually released but were people of interest.
It’s only in I Know Who Did It, where Mabel was finally proven to be completely innocent.
Charles-Haden Savage[]
Charles was arrested, alongside Oliver and Mabel, when they were found to be standing over the body of Bunny.
The three of them were eventually released but were people of interest.
In Here's Looking at You, a knife that was gifted to Oliver years previously for a job of his working on a musical with Vanilla Ice, was found bloodied and in Charles’ apartment, as a way to frame them both.
However, he’s eventually found to be innocent.
Oliver Putnam[]
Oliver was arrested, alongside Charles and Mabel, when they were found to be standing over the body of Bunny.
Nina Lin[]
In The Last Day of Bunny Folger, having found the minutes from the board meeting-slash-retirement party on the day of Bunny’s death, the trio learned that, though Bunny was retiring and being replaced by Nina as Board President, Bunny suddenly had a change of heart and didn’t want to retire, which angered Nina.
Having learned of the Arcatacombs from Lucy, Charles, Mabel and Lucy went spying on Nina. They became even more suspicious of her, after seeing her plans to modernise the Arconia, which Bunny was against, as well as overhearing Nina and her husband mentioning that ‘Bunny had to go’.
However, Nina is proven innocent, when she goes into labor and mentioned how she wished Bunny was there to be able to meet the baby.
Poppy White[]
In Here's Looking at You, it’s shown that Lucy heard Bunny screaming as she was being murdered before seeing the killer running past her in the Arcatacombs. The assailant sneezed from an unknown allergy at the time before disappearing.
In The Tell, Mabel goes into the Arcatacombs and purposefully checks under her apartment for how someone could get in like they had. In doing so, she came across a bloodied matchbook.
Oliver goes to the The Pickle Diner to talk to Ivan about anyone who met up with Bunny the day she died. He wasn’t working at the time but he took Oliver into the back of the diner to show him security footage from that day. It showed an unknown person sitting and talking with Bunny, before they left, looking away from the camera, hiding their face from being recognised.
In Performance Review, Mabel noticed a fingerprint in the blood of the matchbook, which the killer was seen to take from a bowl of matchbooks at the diner, on the day of Bunny's murder.
In Flipping the Pieces, having spent some time in Coney Island with Theo, and having struggled with remembering if she had stabbed Bunny or not, Mabel got back a memory of seeing someone running into her closet with the bloodied knife and going into the Arcatacombs through the floor grate. She then remembered seeing Bunny already with the knitting needle in her chest, meaning that Mabel didn’t stab her.
In Hello, Darkness, having the tri-state area under a blackout, Lucy is hanging out at Charles’. Whilst on her own, she heard what sounded like someone trying to open the front door and thought it was Charles coming back, even calling his name out but when the noises got louder and there was severe banging on the door, Lucy realised that whoever it was who was trying to break in, she knew was not Charles so quickly tried to hide. She headed into the Arcatacombs and ran inside. She’s quickly followed by the assailant though, though she managed to get away.
However, they got nervous themselves and run when they heard someone else in the tunnels, who turned out to be Marv trying to help out.
Charles, Oliver and Mabel are concerned about Lucy’s safety during the blackout, so seeing Charles’ apartment door broken into, they become concerned about what’s happened to her. They head on into the hidden passageways, having realised that’s where she’d gone. They eventually found her, where she told them that she thought the person chasing her was the same person, to the person who she saw when Bunny died.
In I Know Who Did It, the trio learned after having food at The Pickle Diner with Poppy, that what Bunny whispered to Mabel the night she died, was actually a regular order Poppy ate from the diner, which was the owner’s sisters favourite sandwich: 14 Sandwich, not what they had previously thought, which was 14 Savage.
During this meet up, Mabel got a phone call from Williams saying that there were fingerprints on the knife that was connected to a murder in Oklahoma. So this was evidence that Poppy did it.
The trio get a killer reveal party going at Bunny’s apartment, where several of the residents/staff of the Arconia alongside Cinda, Poppy and Alice attend. They point the finger first at Cinda and then at Alice as being the murderer, which was the plan, since they knew Poppy was really the murderer but didn't want to let Poppy know just yet.
Cinda told Mabel that she's good enough to be an investigator or even have her own podcast under Cinda’s podcast company, something Poppy had been wanting and feeling like she'd been denied for a while, so hearing this angered her. It’s around this time that Poppy started to sneeze since we learned that she’s allergic to birds, aka. Mrs. Gambolini, Bunny’s pet bird.
Poppy had offered the idea of a podcast about the painting of the mysterious, missing Rose Cooper to Cinda but Cinda mockingly turned the idea down. So Poppy, supported by Kreps, decided to make her own murder to podcast about, the murder of Bunny, since Kreps called her old and mean.
Outside of Bunny’s apartment, we see Poppy and Kreps taken away in handcuffs.
Alice Banks[]
There’s a water leak at Third Arm Gallery, where, in The Tell, Alice was about to host a party, so she asked Mabel if she could host it at her apartment instead. Since she was feeling a little vulnerable knowing that her apartment could be broken into so easily, and also wanting some company, Mabel said yes to having the party at hers.
When Mabel told Charles and Oliver about this party happening, they invited themselves along.
Whilst at the party, Charles mentioned his suspicions of Alice, thanks to Jan mentioning to him whilst visiting her in prison, that the killer was an artist, given the style of the murder.
Though, after being praised by Alice over past work of his, Charles quickly changed his mind.
However, Oliver started to suspect Alice himself, so started a game of Son of Sam, hoping he’ll be able to prove that Alice was lying and was a murderer. Unfortunately for Oliver, it didn't work.
In I Know Who Did It, Alice and Mabel had broken up and weren’t on the greatest of terms, though Alice did join the killer reveal party, where it came across that she was the killer. She also seemingly stabbed Charles. It all was false though and was just a way to get the real killer, Poppy, to be outed.
Mabel and Alice are seen smiling at one another after Poppy and Krep's arrest.
Daniel Kreps ('Glitter Guy')[]
For a while, the trio had been getting texts that seemed to be helping them in their research etc. so assumed it was Williams.
However, in Performance Review, they realised that they’d been texting with the killer.
So, to try and catch them, Charles came up with an idea from an episode of Brazzos, that they could catch them using a paint bomb disguised as evidence the killer could take, which would be situated in a nearby park the trio thought of. They used glitter instead since they had no paint.
It didn't go to plan though, as whilst watching the trash can with the bomb, the three of them got into an argument over Charles still dating Jan, so didn’t notice the incident happening until it was too late.
Mabel, annoyed, decided to walk back to the Arconia instead of going by car and caught a train back. Whilst there, she saw in her carriage the person, covered in glitter. Spotting each other, him going to attack her, she stabbed them in the arm with a knitting needle from her bag and ran off the train.
She blacked out and was found and brought back to Theo’s apartment by him to sleep it off in bed. He had been on the same train at the time, in another carriage. Mabel and Theo began talking about glitter guy, with Theo handing over a security badge for staff at Coney Island, which glitter guy had dropped when he ran off the train. Mabel learned that glitter guy had taken her bag which held the bloody matchbook, so she decided she’s going to go to find him at Coney Island herself. However, Theo offered to drive her there and help, which she didn't accept at first but eventually agreed.
Having spent some time at Coney Island, Mabel headed to the bathroom in the staff locker room and whilst there, she noticed glitter in the sink. She decided to look around a little and spotted tissues with blood on them in the bin. She hid in a nearby locker when she heard glitter guy walking in with a rucksack. She accidentally made a noise which caused them to search each locker one by one. When they got to her locker, she opened the door which hit them in the face and ran to grab their bag before running back to find Theo. Once she found him, they drove away. She noticed a chicken symbol on the bag.
In Hello, Darkness, in the Arconia lobby, after the lights came back on after the blackout, the trio noticed Lucy was talking to Kreps, who was, according to him, in the neighborhood. Mabel and him talk, Mabel being suspicious of him, when Howard accidentally bumped into him, hitting his arm and causing him to wince. He told Mabel that he got a new tattoo there but Mabel didn't believe him. He then noticed Marv lingering and mocked him, but with his head turned, Mabel noticed that he had glitter on his neck. She tried to not show what she's learned, that she knew he was glitter guy.
In Sparring Partners, Mabel, reading through Kreps’ staff folder from Coney Island that Theo had collected, found Kreps at a boxing gym in the Bronx. She went and visited him there, where they boxed one another, with Mabel trying to get info out of him. Eventually he admitted to dating an intelligent woman, who seemed to have a connection to the All Is Not OK in Oklahoma podcast, which hinted at this being Cinda Canning. Mabel also saw the chicken imagery on something of Kreps once more. She decided to listen to that podcast for clues. She knew she recognised the image but she hadn’t seen it, she heard it. Cinda mentioned it in the podcast; The Chicken Chug in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
In I Know Who Did It, outside of Bunny’s apartment, we see Poppy and Kreps taken away in handcuffs.
Cinda Canning[]
In Sparring Partners, Mabel, reading through Kreps’ staff folder from Coney Island that Theo collected, found Kreps at a boxing gym in the Bronx. Eventually he admitted to dating an intelligent woman, who seemed to have a connection to the All Is Not OK in Oklahoma podcast, which hinted at the person being Cinda. Mabel also saw the chicken imagery on something of Kreps once more, having seen it on a rucksack owned by him. She decided to listen to that podcast for clues. She knew she recognised the image but she hadn’t seen it, she heard it. Cinda mentioned it in the podcast, The Chicken Chug in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Thinking it could be Cinda who’s the murderer, Mabel went to the recording station and saw Poppy who was there. Mabel mentioned that this all had to do with All Is Not OK in Oklahoma but felt like she’s missing a puzzle piece. Poppy told Mabel that she should leave and that Mabel didn’t know what Cinda was capable or that she didn’t know what Cinda would do to get what she wanted. Mabel questioned why that was and so Poppy told her that she’s Becky Butler.
Mabel ran to the murder board at Charles' and pinned Cinda’s face under Criminal Mastermind. The trio were in shock.
In I Know Who Did It, they assumed that Cinda knew about Poppy being Becky Butler and sent a mayor to prison for a crime he didn’t commit and is now trying to do something similar with the trio.
They meet up with Poppy at The Pickle Diner to try and learn what Cinda didn’t like and to try and take her down that way. Things she didn't like were, the inside of tomatoes, slow motion or people that don’t look like her.
After having food with her, they learned that what Bunny whispered to Mabel the night she died, was actually a regular order Poppy ate from the diner, which was the owner’s sisters favourite sandwich: 14 sandwich, not 14 savage. Cinda told Mabel that she's an excellent investigator, so much so, that she should have her own podcast under Cinda's podcast company, which angers Poppy, which is exactly the plan.
Minor Suspects[]
Rose Cooper[]
Oliver briefly considered Rose a suspect of killing Bunny (when they thought she was Leonora and Bunny was her daughter) when they first meet her at Bunny’s memorial in Framed.
However, he’s quickly shot down by Mabel. He mentioned such a thing happened in The Sopranos.
Marv[]
In Hello, Darkness, having heard how Charles was worried about Lucy on her own in his apartment during the blackout, Marv went to check on Lucy through the back way, the Arcatacombs. It’s doing this that scared off an unknown assailant who was chasing Lucy through the tunnels. He then bumped into the trio who are looking for Lucy. They thought he was the assailant at first, so when out on the stairs of the Arconia, Mabel knocked him down with a bag of dips Oliver had been gifted by Ivan earlier that night and took off his work mask to reveal Marv. They thought he was the murderer, given everything but Lucy told them that he was not who she saw before. Lucy mentioned he scared the actual killer off.
Jonathan Bridgecroft[]
In the blackout in Hello, Darkness, Jonathan spent time with Howard, however he had to leave since he started sneezing because of his severe allergy to cats.
When Lucy ended up being chased by an unknown assailant through the Arcatacombs, she managed to get away. When Charles, Oliver and Mabel found her, having realised where she'd gone and what had happened, she told them that she thought it was the same person chasing her, as who she saw when Bunny died. She mentioned that the assailant sneezed.
