Milton Dudenoff was a recurring character in season four of Only Murders in the Building. He was a film professor and is portrayed by Griffin Dunne.
History[]
Milton Dudenoff was a film professor. He was married to a woman who worked as a music teacher. To aid this work, as apartments opened up on their floor of the Arconia, they rented them to give her additional space. After his wife died, those apartments sat empty, but he couldn't bring himself to let go of them.[1]
In the course of his career, he took certain individual students under his wing, who others may have considered outcasts. This led to him illegally subletting the apartments to them at an extremely low rate. He was particularly fond and formed an especially close bond with Trina and Tawny Brothers, whom he mentored and encouraged even when their classmates disparaged them. He also became strong friends with Vince Fish, Rudy Thurber, Ana, Inez, Alfonso, and Helga Heino. He gathered with them often to play his favorite card game 'Oh Hell'.[2]
When Dudenoff learned the had a terminal illness and only had a few months to live, he invited all his found family, except Helga, to the basement, except Helga. He told them he'd taken many pills and wanted them to burn his body after he died and tell everyone he'd moved to Portugal, which would allow them to cash his Social Security checks and continue to live in their apartments. To Helga, he left a letter and check, telling her he was moving to Portugal. However, he recorded a video for her in case she figured out the truth, so she wouldn't blame the other Westies. He felt that she couldn't handle losing him as she'd had such a hard time coming back from the loss of her father.[1]
