History[]
Matthew sheltered at a Ritz-Carlton with Cliff DeMeo during Superstorm Sandy. After this experience, they remained friends and when Charles-Haden Savage left Death Rattle Dazzle, Cliff called him in as a replacement. Oliver was initially excited about this and impressed by Matthew's quick mastery of the song "Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" However, Oliver quickly grew frustrated over Matthew's obsession with fully inhabiting The Constable and perfecting every single note of the song and every move he'd made on stage. After a long night rehearsing, around two AM, Oliver finally hit his limit and fired Matthew, re-hiring Charles in the role.[1]
Despite being fired from the show, Matthew attended the opening night, where he sat between Jerry Blau and Uma Heller. They all noticed some behind the scenes antics that leaked into the show, which made Matthew grateful he wasn't in the show.[2]
Career[]
He is an actor. Before being hired as The Constable in Death Rattle Dazzle, he was in The Producers, Election, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and War Games.
