K.T. Knoblauer is a recurring character in Season 3 of Only Murders in the Building. She is the stage manager for Death Rattle.
She is portrayed by Allison Guinn.
History[]
K.T. was the stage manager for Oliver's play Death Rattle. At the first read-through, after the lead, Ben Glenroy, finally arrived, K.T. got the read-through started.[1]
Four months later, on Death Rattle's opening night, Ben showed up late. When he finally arrived, K.T. yelled at him to get into costume.[2] Soon after the show started, Ben collapsed on stage and was pronounced dead. Oliver sent everyone back to his place for the party he'd planned. K.T. attended the party and talked to Jonathan Bridgecroft about her using the handkerchief Ben had given everyone as an opening night gift. Howard revealed that he had one as well and K.T. was surprised that he'd gotten one as he was only Oliver's assistant. Everyone was surprised when Ben showed up at the party, alive after having his stomach pumped. He said he needed to apologize to everyone for his behavior over the last few months. He specifically apologized to K.T. for accusing her of stealing his mangoes.[1]
K.T. oversaw construction workers striking the set after Death Rattle was cancelled. Oliver saw this and tried to stop her. She told him the show was over and the producers just didn't want to tell him. Oliver wrestled the dummy victim out of K.T.'s hands and told her to stop them from taking down the set while he talked to Donna and Cliff.[3]
When Howard believed that him not sweeping the stage on opening night caused Ben's death, he, Mabel, Charles, and Oliver went to the theater to look into the alleged haunted of the theater by Gideon Goosebury, who had died there on opening night of Ashes to Ashes when a sandbag came loose and hit him in the head. When Charles was nearly hit with two sandbags himself, they went to K.T., who enlisted Howard's help to check the rigging for safety. While they were working, K.T. told Howard that he was wrong about Gideon. You didn't need to sweep away his ghost to make the production safe. Instead you needed to include him. She had Howard act out Gideon's monologue from the night he'd died while she directed him.[4]
During the show's sitzprobe, K.T. called everyone to the stage when it was their turn to perform.[5]
On opening night, behind the scenes antics provided a chaotic show, with Cliff threatening to kill himself by dropping onto the stage after it came out that he had been the one to push Ben into the elevator shaft. As this played out, K.T. called for the curtain to be closed.[6]
