Helga Heino is a minor character in Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building. She is a locksmith who lived in the West Tower of the Arconia.
She is portrayed by Alexandra Templer.
History[]
Helga's father was a locksmith. When he died, Helga inherited his business. It was through this work that she met Milton Dudenoff when she installed a keypad entry on his door, since he was constantly losing his keys. He was delighted to learn she was a fan of Perfect Strangers and the game "Oh Hell." He invited her to join the weekly card game he hosted with Vince Fish, Rudy Thurber, Ana, Inez, and Alfonso. They quickly became friends and Dudenoff included her in renting her a rent-controlled apartment in the Arconia.
Later, Helga received a letter informing her that Dudenoff had moved to Portugal. The letter included a check from him. She continued to live in the Arconia for a while, but grew suspicious of the other Westies, whose behavior had changed around her, and eventually moved out.
Helga began communicating with Sazz Pataki via ham radio when Sazz was looking into the plot holes from season one of the Only Murders in the Building Podcast. Sazz said she was working on a movie called Project Ronkonkoma and in particular worked with a stunt worker who messed up and then started to harass Sazz. She'd said he was dangerous and would be the death of her.
Helga came back to the Arconia when Mabel Mora reached out to her for information about the Westies. She told them her side of the events surrounding Dudenoff's disappearance and then learned that Dudenoff and the other Westies had lied. Instead of going to Portugal, Dudenoff had actually died by suicide knowing he had a terminal illness and wanting to allow his found family to continue living in the Arconia and cashing his checks. He'd asked them not to tell Helga because she hadn't recovered well from the loss of her father. he recorded a video message for her saying as much for the Westies to play for Helga if she ever found out the truth about him being dead. After this revelation, the Westies asked Helga to move back home. She agreed and was able to get Hammy Faye Bakker back from Howard.
