Grover Stanley is a recurring character in Season 1 and Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building. He is a resident of the Arconia and lives on the sixth floor. He offers his services as a therapist. He takes Venmo and cryptocurrencies as payment.

He is portrayed by Russell G. Jones.

History[]

Memorial for Tim Kono[]

After Tim Kono was found dead in his apartment and his death was ruled a suicide, Grover attended a memorial for him in the Arconia lobby. At the start of the memorial, he stood up, introduced himself, and offered his counseling services to everyone. After Howard Morris revealed that his cat, Evelyn, died the same night as Tim, he stood up again to remind everyone that his services were available. He later comforted a crying Howard.[1]

Suspect Line-Up[]

Grover was part of Oliver's suspect line-up, the process by which he tried to eliminate some suspects. During the line-up, Oliver pointed towards Grover, who said he did it and he was a bad therapist. Oliver had him step back.[2]

Loud Neighbors[]

Grover complained to Lester that his upstairs neighbors were loud and his clients were starting to complain about it. Lester promised to see what he could do.[3]

Proposed Evictions[]

Due to the podcast, several residents of the building complained about Mabel, Charles, and Oliver violating their privacy. As a result, Bunny held a meeting where they discussed evicting the three of them. During this meeting, Grover said that four of his clients had cancelled their sessions that week because they were afraid to come to the Arconia.[4]

Offering Charles Help and Trio's Arrest[]

When Grover entered an elevator where Charles was on the floor, he asked if Charles needed help and then left his card, saying he could schedule an outpatient appointment.

Later, Grover was among those who watched as Mabel, Charles, and Oliver were arrested after being found with Bunny Fogler's body.[5]

Bunny's Retirement[]

At what was Bunny's last board meeting, the board instead threw a retirement party for her. When Bunny tried to conduct business as usual, Grover told her he was already drunk. He then watched as Bunny declared that she was changing her mind about retiring. Nina insisted that she couldn't do that and said Bunny was just a relic.[6]

Blackout[]

During the blackout, Grover talked to Howard, who was also in the lobby of the Arconia. Howard pointed out Jonathan, whom Howard had a crush on. Grover encouraged him to take a shot, but Howard was convinced that Jonathan was out of his league. Grover said he could go over to Jonathan's and pretend he needed batteries as an excuse to talk to him and advised him that his life would never change if he never took a chance.[7]
