Doreen is a minor character in season four of Only Murders in the Building. She is the sister of Charles-Haden Savage and is portrayed by Melissa McCarthy.
History[]
When Doreen was three and her brother, Charles, was nineteen, he was pushing her on a swing. He pushed too hard and she flew off, resulting in her losing her spleen. Their mother guilted Charles about it for years and Doreen picked up the habit of teasing him about it. A few years later, when Doreen was five, their mother took her to see Charles in one of her plays. The memory was special to Doreen because it's the only time in her life she could remember her mother holding her hand.
As Charles and Doreen grew up, they remained distant. However, when Charles needed to flee New York when a killer was after him, he went to Doreen's house. Doreen welcomed them and told them she'd kicked her husband out, so he was living on the boat in the driveway. Doreen took an immediate liking to Oliver and flirted with him heavily. This continued until Loretta arrived looking for Oliver.
While talking to Charles, they argued over him expressing no emotions and her expressing many. She believed he was robotic and every many in her life thought she was crazy just for having feelings. Wanting to woo Oliver, Doreen made her hair look like Loretta's and attempted to seduce him. When Oliver chose Loretta over her, Doreen picked a fight with Loretta, which ended with Loretta biting Doreen and them each apologizing.
While treating Doreen's bite wound, she and Charles had a heart to heart. They agreed to blame their mother for the distance and agreed to try to do better about staying in touch.
The next day, Mike came home to find them on the boat and he and Doreen made up. Then Mike told the trio that Howard was trying to reach them and said the Westies killed Dudenoff and had been cashing his checks.
