The song was released circa 1989. Charles mentions that the single was a big hit in Germany, reaching number 83 on the charts until the Berlin Wall fell, which stopped its upward momentum. Many artists have sampled the song ever since, including Post Malone, Missy Elliott and Del the Funky Homo Sapien. The remastered version was released digitally worldwide on 15 July 2022 and the music video on 18 Jul 2022.
