Biography[]
Amy Ryan an American actress of stage, television and film. She began her acting career at the age of 18 with a role in the US tour of Neil Simon's play Biloxi Blues. She came to widespread attention with her role of Helene in the film Gone Baby Gone (2008), for which she won several awards, and gained an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Further notable roles include Beadie Russell in The Wire (2003-2008), Holly Flax in The Office (2008-2011), Adele Brouse in In Treatment (2010), Vicki in Beautiful Boy (2018), Mari Gilbert in Lost Girls (2020) and Jan in Only Murders in the Building (2021-).
Amy Ryan was announced to be joining the cast of Only Murders in the Building in January 2021.[1] She was told by John Hoffman from the beginning that Jan was the murderer, but tried not to let this influence her performance, She said that, to her, Jan was "definitely someone who's in the moment", saying she "couldn’t carry the weight of what [Jan] knows" in her performance, as she doesn't believe Jan herself thinks about it.[2] She was very excited to work with Steve Martin, who was one of her childhood heroes.[2]
